cool Mac apps, while we wait

Picture 1.pngI’m sure most of you have been dying to get your mitts on the first official (paid) expansion of WOW, due out on the 15th.

I’ve been on WOW sabbatical while I attempt to work (to pay the bills) and help raise our first child (yes, I’m a breeder now).

During a few of my waking hours, I’ve been using cocoatech’s Path Finder with great satisfaction. Version 4.6.1 is much faster and has ‘folder sets’ – a feature that I’ve been dying to have. Path Finder is all about workflow and file management.

If you’re like me (which you probably are since you’re reading this), then you have tons of files in your download folder and your WOW add ons folder. Path Finder let’s you filter a directory by what ever you type in the filter box. It also has a number of search tools to compliment Spotlight (not everyone loves Spotlight.)

Apparently I’m late to the ‘love party’ because Merlin Man has shared the love like a blogging maniac. See this too.

The other software that I’ve been fooling with is called Quicksilver. At first, it seems like an idiot savant file launcher. After some experimentation, it also provided fast searches of files and website bookmarks. This is noteworthy since, all you do is hit a hot key combo and type what you want. I suspect that with practice, it could be very handy. I’d be curious to hear what you guys have to say.
