If you Digg – Digg this. Dual Quad-Core’s in a Mac Pro

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Want to play WOW faster? Try this…(oh yeah, bring your checkbook)

The Apple News That Got Buried: “Apple’s Showtime event was all well and good, but the big news today was on Anandtech.com. They found that the two dual-core CPUs in the Mac Pro were not only removable, but that they were able to insert two quad-core Clovertown CPUs. OS X recognized all eight cores and it worked fine!”

Put your money where your mouth is: save 20% on .Mac

Monday, September 11th, 2006

picture-16.pngNever let it be said that I wouldn’t try something before I recommended it.

I went to our own store, see the link on the right, and purchased the .Mac kit for $79.99 – a 20% discount ;)

The kit arrived today from Amazon and I logged in to my .Mac account. It took a few steps to find my way, but I was able to renew my account with the new activation code. I saved $20.
Key points: log in, and click on the account icon in the upper left corner. Then look for the blue link titled ‘Review your renewal settings.’ You will need to put the code in at the bottom. Then you will be asked for a valid credit card – make it accurate (you won’t be billed). The next screen tells you that your balance is zero. You’ve done it :)

This doesn’t mean I sold out…

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

.mac account cheaperActually I sold out a long time ago. But that’s besides the point. Amazon let me setup a store full of cool WOW/Mac stuff and some of it is discounted pretty good.

This seemed like a great way to say thanks to all our visitors and help pay the rent. You don’t have to buy anything, just check it out :)

I’d love to know what you think :)

Oh yeah click here or the link on the right ->

A Mac-modest proposal

Friday, August 4th, 2006

I propose that a bunch of us Mac users agree on a low population server and we all create characters with ‘Mac’ in our names so that we can easily identify one another. Then recruiting for our guild will be easy.

This isn’t all just fun and egos, I want to build a group of players who can test new software and input devices together. We will then be able to post the results here. I’d like to know what bluetooth headsets work with chat aps and what special keyboards will work for us.

Let me know what you think. This could really go somewhere.

File under: Why didn’t I think of that

The people over at TechEBlog have compiled a list of the Top 5 Strange uses for a MacBook.

Holly Cr@p! Some of these are hilarious. Some are actually practical. While I don’t recommend cooking with a MacBook, Screen switching with a gentle tap is pretty cool. Go check it out.

Even better than the real thing…

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

There was an amazing little contest over at PhilRyu.com. And it would have flown below the radar, but the winner came up with such an amazing concept, that it got some press.

The contest was to make fake screen shots to chart the future of the Mac OS. The winner’s (Eric Patterson) concepts were so sweet, that people wanted Apple to hire him. I heartily agree. Beautiful stuff. check it out.

Are you kidding me?! Someone took Dashboard to a new level

Some guys over at www.mp3car.com have photos of a Mac mini stalled in a F-150. Check it out — Personally i would not advise playing WOW while driving down the road, but your passengers might get a kick from it :)
