Feliz WOW Navidad

Monday, December 25th, 2006

Picture 1.jpgBy now you’ve probably spent an absurd amount of time playing WOW this weekend (unless you got stuck at a relative’s house)

Since I did not get a WOW gift card, my stay in the real world looks like it will be extended for a bit.

I do hope you all have a magnificent holiday. Do try to get out and get some fresh air, even if it’s just to get some eggnog.

If you’ve taken any great holiday WOW screenshots, please send them in, so we can post your holiday glory.

For the next 3 days. A collection of nine decent Mac Only Aps are availble for a deep discount. They say it’s worth $307.74 but they are only asking $49.

To add to the goodness, a portion of the deal goes to a number of charities.

No News from Ventrilo

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Logitech Internet Chat HeadsetWhat’s up with the people at Ventrilo? They haven’t updated the Mac client since March. Is the beta prototype THAT good? I doubt it.

Have you posted a note on their forum? Did you know that their ‘known issues’ forum page had 24,000 views? That seems like a lot of people want Vent to be cleaned up.

What do you think?

The World of Warcraft Diet – no really

Need helpThe Inquirer has an article of how a ‘big’ fellow lost 41 pounds in 3 months while playing WOW. The trick: tricking out his exercise cycle so that he could put in over 100 hours of riding. Details here.

Ok, this fellow clearly has some weird external motivation. He hung his lcd monitor from the ceiling and attached a keyboard and mouse to his bike. Kind of spooky.

I much prefer to just cut back on carps.

Kurn, where have you been?

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Kurn Sadly, I’ve been sick and I’ve had a ton of work to do. The fact that Burning Crusade has been postponed till January or something doesn’t help.

I’ve been leveling my new Druid. He’s lvl 37. According to the program I’ve logged like 4+ days playing him, so I guess he’s making good progress.

I’ve been exploring all the quests on the western continent. Most of the Desolace stuff, is straight forward with lots of grinding experience.

On Sunday, I took Kurn to the fishing derby and we rudely reminded that 2 o’clock means 2 0’clock. I may never get to try that. sigh.

1 final oddball note. I use Mac os 10.4.x and I’ve been playing with holding the control key down while moving the mouse scroll wheel. It’s a great little zoom feature. Try it.

Leopard one-ups Vista

Not to be outdone by Vista and its 256×256 icons. Apple has decided that Leopard will use 512×512 icons, just to one-up Microsoft. Not only that but the entire OS GUI will be resolution independent.

Just when you think WOW and iPods have been in the news too much…

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Anybody else think this is just plain crazy?

Apple will do anything to keep that iPod publicity running.

Airplane Toilet IPod Causes Chaos: “

ipod-small.jpgA poster on the Word of Warcraft forums claims that he accidentally dropped his iPod into the toilet of an airplane on a flight to Canada, and one of the stewardesses found it. This then triggered a series of events that lead to an emergency landing, the passengers being evacuated and him spending several hours being grilled by the authorities. At the risk of spoiling the ending, it all turned out allright in the end, but he doesn’t say if he took the, erm, soiled iPod back. Personally, I’d just write it off to experience and buy a non-flushed one.
