Greetings and Salutations!
Thursday, September 11th, 2008Fellow WOWszers and Mac devotees, I send you greetings and salutations,
Thank you Eillebill for the introduction and adding me as admin to this site!
Yes I discovered WOW earlier this year and was hooked withing the first 15 seconds of play time. Eillebill and I have been friends for many years, worked together, and spent a lot of time playing other online games such as Diablo & Diablo II. Now that I am on the east coast, WOW allows us to still socialize and keep in touch. My missus realizes the value of of my friendships and lets me play whenever I can. However the three hour time difference makes for some late nights/early mornings for me :0)
Although I have several characters I created to try the different classes, my paladin, Geoffreymala is my favorite and yes the race is on to Lvl 70 my friend!
I am partial to Paladins- Geoffreymala is actually named after an AD&D paladin, Geoffrey Malachite of AmberWyvwern™ I played for nigh twenty years. This persona is even my persona in the SCA. And AmberWyvern™ is the name of my company. Obsessive? Probably…. Another story? Yup…. Gonna elaborate? Nope, not on this blog….
I first started using Apple computers in the early 1980s. I have had many many Apples over the years and several Macs. By the time we moved to New England, I had amassed seventeen Mac Plus, two Imagewriter printers, an Apple SCSI Scanner, two Mac Classic, one Color Classic, an Apple IIe, a Power Mac 1600, an Apple IIsi, a B&W G3, a Powerbook G3 Pismo, and a couple of Newtons. I am a techno addict-
Needless to say that I parted with nearly all my Apple hardware when I moved. I kept the Pismo and the B&W. Oh parting is such sweet sorrow, all those toasters, alas they are gone.
Earlier this year, after many many years, miles, and hours of service my Pismo was showing its age so I bought a new 15.4″ MacBook Pro 2.33 Core 2 with 2GB RAM and the Draft N wireless. The perfect platform for WOW Burning Crusade. As I indicated earlier I am a bit of a technology junkie. I have an Internet connection that averages 8-12Mbps downloads, and 2Mbps uploads. It costs more but there is no lag in WOW. Coupled with a Belkin N1 Vision wireless router, and my adventures can take place from any place within 300 feet of our apartment. (But boy does the battery get sucked dry fast when I am WOWing an battery power- 50 minutes tops)
To allow my nephews to play, I opened a second WOW subscription and have my Home Theater PC set up with WOW so one nephew can play on the MacBook and the other can play onthe PC on the two wall mounted 19″ widescreen HD monitors and wireless KB.
Well this introduction was sure longer than I expected. And I am so close to 65 I can taste it!

OMG – Blizzard codes on Macs???

A while back I mentioned that I had returned to WOW because a very old friend had started playing.
Well He’s become completely adicted and we are now racing to level 70 like a couple of cats with our tails on fire. I talked him into joining the Lothar Realm and switched to my NE Druid to give hime time to catch up.
He rolled a human Paladin named Geoffrey, which he runs via his MacBook Pro. I recently asked Geoffrey if he wanted to post some entries here for you folks. He said sure. (We’ll see how that goes).
If you want to see how our characters are progressing here they are at Eillebill (my Druid) and Geoffrey.
Now that we have two pair of eyes on the site, I will be opening up comments soon.
Holly Walmart Batman!

That’s right old chum. In my new fangled effort to reclaim my lost WOW heritage, I decided that I needed the expansion pack.
Maybe you’ve heard of it: Burning Crusade. It has a good reputation among players.
Apparently it has flying mounts. About time Blizzard!
What’s that you say? It’s been out for nearly a year? Oh I see.
…Anyway. For the three of you who have not already purchased the expansion, it’s on sale at Walmart for 20 silver (er, I mean $20). That’s $10 less than Blizzard charge to download it. (Walmart controls the world.)
“Hello Old Friend”

Well it’s been over a year and I’ve finally returned to the fold.
How long it lasts, it’s hard to say. I’ve got a touchy truce with the misuses about playing.
Basically my close friend Bill FINALLY picked up WOW and fell in love. This was my segue back into the game. Bill lives on the other side of the country, so it’s nice to visit with him.
I’ve noticed a lot of little changes since December ’06. (Big Surprise). I took my lvl 40 Druid for a spin in Dustwallow Marsh. It seems like there are many new mid-level quests. And they are more interesting than just “go kill 10 of these.” Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme has built a small dock and has a tent and camp fire now. Well done Nat!
It’s like leaving home and coming back after collage and discovering a Krispy Kreme.
More as it develops.
WowMatrix – handy tool!
Monday, March 10th, 2008Finally an easy way to manage your add ons. It’s Wowmatrix .
Imagine a world where you can automatically check for, and update all your add ons. Now imagine that you can search all available plugins and add the ones you want – with out surfing the web!
That’s Wowmatri. Best of all it’s free.
It runs on macs and pc’s (but if you are using a pc, what are you doing here?)
Ding!
Monday, March 10th, 2008Scott Kurtz, the creator of PVPonline.com has started a cool WOW inspired strip called Ding.
pvp online wow thread – eat it up!

That clever guy (Scott Kurtz) at PvPonline.com has posted a series of great WOW/BC strips.
Have you seen this?
Friday, December 21st, 2007Have You seen this? It’s a company, called FigurePrints, that makes 3-D models from your character model. Really. They use that new 3-d printing technology. Really. I guess the novelty is where it’s at.
Apparently they are so popular, there is a lottery to see who gets theirs next. These things aren’t cheap. They run about $100.
